About Muscle Retensioning Technique
Introduction
Muscle Retensioning Technique (MRT) is a new concept and approach to resetting muscle tension without the heavy invasive pressure. The technique applications can be applied to muscles, tendons, ligaments and muscle fascia for people and animals, whether it be lying down or standing. This can provide quick results in relation to relieving tension, pain & discomfort. Tight muscles, knots, etc can be released with ease. This also assists with the speedy recovery, restoration and/or healing process of muscle, tendon and ligament injuries, where there has been small tears, strains and over stretching. This concept/technique is a hands-on application working with the proprioceptors of muscles, tendons and ligaments. This doesn`t wear out or exhaust the practitioner or the client. This can be integrated and easily applied alongside a variety of massage therapies, Bowen Technique, remedial therapies, etc.
The “Muscle Retensioning Technique” concept has been in its development and refinement since 1999 and has brought consistent positive outcome results whenever it has been applied. After learning and working with many types/styles of remedial/massage applications since 1987, John Holodnak (developer and writer of MRT) found nothing that ever provided clients with outstanding, quick results within a short space of time for pain and tension relief. For the client who is pain, discomfort or tension, all they want is relief, no matter want technique is applied.
Learning outcomes
The focus is about the application of muscle retensioning techniques and the understanding that will assist in the retensioning of muscles so as to bring the body into balance and improved postural alignment.

Background
John realised that the body has a similarity to a telephone exchange and computers in its operation. They operate as a synchronised polarity potential based or biased switching network system, in that they input proposed information, process and analyse it, then give out the intended result. It is an information processing machine. The information or data (digital/analogue) that is gathered, processed and then transmitted out, uses a polarity biased potential (+ve and/or –ve) which influences outcomes (mechanical, physical, chemical, mental, emotional). This polarity biased potential information processes in the brain and travels along the nerves and then to the proprioceptors of the muscles, tendons and ligaments to either stimulate or relax these tissue fibres.
If for any reason corruption occurs, then muscles and its tissue could develop knots, pain, restriction of movement, tension, imbalance of the facilitation and inhibition of muscle functioning, no functioning or movement, etc.
John found a number of possibilities that associated to muscle pain and tension. These findings were either that the muscle tissue fibres and/or proprioceptors were getting twisted with each other; there was congested energy; blood, lymph and lactic acid flow that became restricted and changed its pH status; the electrochemical stimulation response wasn`t as functional; the nerve polarity potential response along the nerve fibres wasn`t functioning as well. When furthering his research, he found that origins had stemmed from either mechanical, physical, chemical, hormonal, mental, electromagnetic or emotional factors.
This opened the door to the hands-on type of techniques and applications that were required to reset muscle function and performance. Hence the name, “Muscle Retensioning Technique”, (MRT). The course focuses on the simple, easy applications using manual skill techniques, without the use of machines, that have been put together so the outcome, from a body muscular movement aspect, it can be a smooth operating synchronised moving mechanism. Part of these applications works via the proprioceptors in resetting the muscles in a light non-invasive manner.
When John was developing MRT, his intention was to either assist or enhance what existing skills the remedial / massage therapist has, whether it be Bowen, Swedish massage, any of therapeutic types of massage applications, etc. The beauty of MRT is the flexibility of its application so it can work alongside most remedial massage techniques to assist you’re the client in getting better without pain or discomfort.
Feedback Comments from others that have done this course -
This allows me additional easy skills to release those difficult knots and tight muscles. (Vi)
Thank you, John, for making life easier with those difficult massage clients. It takes the hard work out and turns it into something easy that gives results. – (Paul)
I have never come across such an easy technique that I can integrate with my sports massage work. Thank you John (John)
Muscle Tension Reset really works amazingly and is so easy to integrate into my massages. Thanks. (Mel)
This changed the way and my programmed belief in dealing with muscles for the better. Deep muscles are now easy to access, especially those deep hip flexors. Those traumatised muscles are easy to release. This has shown me how to work smarter and more effectively with massaging. Thank you, John. (Rob)
